Web solution

Thanks for getting back to me Robert. For demonstration purposes, and since no one is looking at that blog address but me and you, I will copy Joge121foyo on this email…when you look at the blog ( https://commissioner.blog/ticker/ ) you should see it appear as if it was meant for the blog. I assume this will work but this is a testing phase so we can both feel comfortable with it.

Thanks again for getting back to me. Happy to help.

RJ thanks for this suggestion, I will review the Tiger Leader Blog and get back you about this idea. I will probably need more explanation on how this works before I make a final decision.

Hi Robert.

Lately I have really gotten into web design and learning how to use the web to communicate better as a DC to my UC’s.

At the meeting the other night there was a frustration down at my end of the table with folks who are just barraged with emails from every corner of their life, work, home, family, scout troops and commissioner stuff. If I heard it once I heard it 10 times “when was that email sent” as people scurried through their phones to find the email on the date you had sent it. Some of them did not find the emails and asked for the material to be sent again.

So my brain gets to rolling, knowing how I process information, which is not to be overwhelmed with emails in a long list of stuff that makes me crazy. I prefer blog postings, where I know all the content relevant to that part of my life are stacked up in one place which I can scroll through and find it a lot easier when I need it.

So…I attempted to apply that thought process to how we communicate on the DC staff. Everyone sends a lot of emails. I set up a weblog, whereby if a person copies this address: joge121foyo to any email they send, it will update the blog postings found here: https://commissioner.blog/ticker/

I tested it out by sending a test email and then I forwarded your binder to the list. I still need to play with it a little. Yoiu certainly would never want to copy joge121foyo to any important emails not meant for public consumption. But for big public eemails, this tool may help commissioners stay in touch.

If you have a chance, please take a look at https://tigerleaders.blog and click on the arrowhead to see what we have been up to.

Thanks Robert. Let me know if this is helpful.

Council Commissioner Meeting Binder January 23, 2018

District Commissioners and Asst. Council Commissioners:

Attached is the Agenda and the handouts from the Commissioner meeting Tuesday evening.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 27, at the HOAC Service Center, 5:45 pm for ACC’s and 7:00 pm for DC’s.

Please have your commissioners register for the Area 5 Commissioner College, registration closes in 3 weeks, best to register in advance than take a chance on getting what you want by walking in on the day of the College. There will be drawing at the College for 2 tickets to the Royals opening day game. What more of an incentive do you need to register for the College.

Also, remind your Commissioners of the Silver Beaver Dinner on January 31.

We have two new ACC’s Scott Tener who will be our Re-Charter Champion and work with the Kaw District, also Marc Elkins joins us as an ACC and will work with Northern Lights and Golden Eagle. There have been some other assignment changes, please see the Commissioner Staff Organizational Chart for all changes.

Be sure to use the Commissioner Training for February at your Commissioner Meeting, this is a very timely and vital topic to cover with your UC’s.

Please send out the District Commissioner Minute to your Unit Key 3 and consider recording a contact in Commissioner Tools for these units.

We should have an announcement early next week about the incentive to work with units on ‘Detailed Unit Assessments’ due by April 1st. Those are meeting on Tuesday heard our plans for this but we will finalize everything by early next week and I will send you an email to share with your Commissioners.

Congrats, to Norther Lights for have 100% of their re-charters in on time. They win a BBQ dinner for their Commissioners.

We had a strong finish for 2017 in recording unit contacts, 7,065 for the year or a 6% increase over 2016. We also recorded contacting 47% of our units in 2017, which was a 6% increase over 2016.

I have also attached a copy of my Vision Statement for 2018, please share this with your Commissioners so they understand what we are trying to accomplish for 2018.

Thanks for all you and your commissioners do for the scouts and adults of the HOAC. It is an honor to serve with you in this very important task of Unit Service.

Yours in Scouting
