Roundtable Staff Changes
District Commissioner RJ Wilson has promoted Harry Moyer to Assistant District Commissioner for Cub Scouting effective April 1, 2020. Harry will have day-to-day oversight of all Unit Commissioners responsible for Cub Scout Packs. His primary duty will be to work with Unit Commissioners and Unit Leaders to ensure the health of all Cub Scout Units in the District.
From the inception of the most recent district realignment, Harry has been serving as Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner for the Shawnee Trails District. Prior to his service to the Shawnee Trails District, he was the Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner for Northern Tier for three years.
Moyer is a highly decorated Commissioner and Scouter. He has earned the Arrowhead Award twice, the Commissioner’s Key twice, the Commissioner Award of Excellence in Unit Service, and the Distinguished Commissioner Service Award during his time as Commissioner. He has also the recipient of many District Level Awards including the District Award of Merit.
In addition to his duties with the Cub Scout Roundtable, he has served as a Unit Commissioner for many years and serves as the Chartering Organization Representative between Shawnee United Methodist Church and Troop 93 and Pack 3352. He has served in many different positions of responsibility for Units in the past.
Harry is well trained for many Scouting positions, he is Wood Badge trained and has served on the Council’s Wood Badge Staff twice. He is a trainer for the Council’s Den Leader Outdoor Experience and has served on the staff of both the Council’s Commissioner College and the University of Scouting.
Harry will be replaced as the Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner by Pam Wilson. Pam has been Scouting for many years and most recently served as the Roundtable Commissioner for the Iron Horse District. More on her soon.
The longtime Cub Scout Roundtable staff is made up of Arnie Spector who administers the RT bead program and always has a skit or a joke for participants; David Bryant who manages registration for the overall Roundtable and reports attendance to the Council; Carrie Setzkorn who offers training for the Cub Scout RT; Frank Matthews who is the Assistant District Commissioner for Lion and Tiger Leaders and the leader of the Bobcat Academy; Crazy Dave Sultz who keeps us on time and makes sure we have relevant input from the audience; and Judy Yaeger who offers our closing thought and makes themed neckerchief slides for the raffle at the end of each Roundtable.
The Shawnee Trails Roundtable occurs on the first Thursday of each month, with the exception of July at 7PM. During the pandemic, virtual Roundtables will be published via constant contact and the District’s Facebook Page.
Alan Clark and Anne Borgmier are the Assistant District Commissioners for Roundtable in the District.
